Coire Na Ciste car park

Birdwatching at Coire Na Ciste car park Cairngorm Scotland. Free guide to the UK's best birdwatching sites

The RSPB have erected a watchpoint at the car park overlooking an area of moorland frequented by red and black grouse. However visitors need to be here very early in the morning in spring to witness the black grouse lek.Other birds here include ring ouzel pictured (Spring / summer), snow bunting and peregrine. Check the disused ski lift buildings and cables for ring ouzel and scan the skyline above glenmore forest park for raptors.

This is an excellent 20 minute stopover for those birders wishing to go on higher to the Cairngorm mountain railway car park where walks will lead to the summit and the chance of other Speyside specialities such as dotterel.

We highly recommend the publications below to compliment your visit to this Region.
