A huge expance of native pine forest and mixed habitats including Loch an Eilein stretching from the River Spey to the high mountain plateau, Rothiemurchus sits within the Cairngorms National Park.Loch an Eilein has an excellent circular walk that should produce Siskin, Scottish Crossbill,Crested Tit (inset), and in Spring/Summer,Pied Flycatcher and Redstart.Whilst the Loch can hold Goosander, Goldeneye, Geese and possibly Divers in winter. Best in early morning. Much of the forest is within the Rothiemurchus Estate, in the ownership of the Grant family since the 1540s. Parking charge
