The Birds of Yorkshire
A worthy successor to Nelson's Birds of Yorkshire and Chislett's Yorkshire Birds, this book provides a comprehensive survey of ornithology in Yorkshire, past and present. It covers development, the history of bird protection in the county, and famous Yorkshire bird photographers, such as the kearton brothers. The main systematic list gives the most detailed account available of all the species which have been recorded in Yorkshire and includes the historical records of Nelson and Chislett, information on breeding status, migration, ringing recoveries and local vernacular names of birds. The geological and topographical features of Yorkshire are described and the ways that these and the ever-changing use of land affects the bird life within the county are discussed
