Brandon Marsh

Birdwatching at Brandon Marsh Warwickshire. Free birdwatching magazine.

Brandon Marsh is a 200-acre nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) on the banks of the River Avon, near to Coventry. Once an active sand and gravel quarry, the site is now a tranquil series of pools and wetlands, with nature trails and five bird hides. Depending on the time of your visit you could see migrating waders, breeding warblers or year-round residents like kingfisher, coot or moorhen. Brandon Marsh Nature Centre starts at the Visitor Centre, opened by Sir David Attenborough in 1998. The Centre contains displays, hands-on activities and information about the nature reserve, as well as a Tea Room and Shop. The Centre is open every day (except Christmas Day) and has lots of events and activities for everyone throughout the year.

Breeding common tern, kingfisher, water rail, great-crested grebe, little egret, little ringed plover, lapwing, wildfowl. Passage waders like green sandpiper, black-tailed godwit.
